Everything You Need to Know Before Booking a Wedding Venue Near Bergen County

Wedding venue tour at The Brownstone in Paterson New Jersey near Bergen County

Choosing a wedding venue in North Jersey takes more than a quick search. Couples from Wayne, Ridgewood, Montclair, and the Bergen County area tell us the same thing: they wanted genuine character, food people would actually talk about, and a team that knows how to run a wedding.

The Brownstone in Paterson, New Jersey hosts weddings for up to 400 guests across six rooms including the Grand Ballroom, glass Grand Conservatory for ceremonies and cocktail receptions, and intimate Cherry Room with marble fireplace, with chef attended stations, a raw bar, handcrafted fresh mozzarella, and all desserts made on premises in the Brownstone Bakery. Wedding packages include a champagne toast and premium open bar, outside vendors are welcome with advance notice, and preferred vendors cover photography, florals, entertainment, and nearby hotel accommodations.

That’s The Brownstone. We’ve been doing this in Paterson, New Jersey, since 1947, when Tom and Rita Clune opened what is considered the first known non-hotel catering facility in the country. Nearly 80 years later, the Manzo family carries that same standard forward. We’d rather show you than summarize it.

What to Actually Evaluate When You Tour a Wedding Venue in New Jersey

Touring a venue is about more than liking how a room looks. You’re evaluating flow, flexibility, and whether the team actually knows weddings. Before you sign anything, walk through these key areas so you leave with real answers, not just a pretty impression and a brochure.

The Spaces and How They Work Together

Not every wedding is the same size, and not every room at The Brownstone is meant for the same moment. Our Grand Ballroom accommodates up to 400 guests, while the newly appointed Main Ballroom hosts up to 250. The Clubroom accommodates 70 guests and overlooks our English Garden and Conservatory.

The Grand Conservatory accommodates up to 150 guests and is ideal for ceremonies and cocktail receptions. For something more intimate, the Cherry Room fits up to 36, features a marble fireplace, and carries the warm feeling of a 1920s private parlor. There’s a room for every headcount and every mood.

The Food, Because That’s What Guests Remember

We hear it after almost every wedding: the food. Our sous chefs run attended stations throughout the cocktail hour. Depending on your package, that can include a Maine Lobster Station, a Raw Bar with fresh oysters and stone crabs, a Sushi Bar, and a Fresh Mozzarella Station where our chef handcrafts the cheese on the spot. Every dessert, including your tiered wedding cake, is homemade on premises in The Brownstone Bakery.

What’s Included With Your Package

Wedding packages at The Brownstone are built to cover the full evening rather than leave you assembling pieces separately. Our Traditional and New Beginnings wedding packages include a champagne toast and a premium open bar. Some packages also include butlered champagne service during cocktail hour.

Vendors: What You Need to Know

We maintain a preferred vendor list with professionals we trust, including M & A Photography and Video, Anna Rose Floral & Event Design, Golden Note Entertainment, DJMC, Fullblown Beauty, and Morningside Greenhouse. Several hotels within ten minutes of The Brownstone are also on that list, including the Residence Inn by Marriott Wayne and the Hilton Garden Inn, which makes overnight accommodations simple for out-of-town guests.

If you have a vendor you already love, that works too. Provide your catering director with the company name, contact, and phone number, and we’ll coordinate with them directly to help the day run smoothly.
